Ten thatched houses built in stone and teak are right on the lake, with its own access to water. En-suite bathroom, veranda with lake panorama. The Condé Nast magazine has named Kaya Mawa as one of the ten most romantic spots on the earth. The honeymoon suite is located separately on its own little island away from other guests. A swimming pool is located in the main building.
Kaya Mawa is located in the east of Lake Malawi on the island of Likoma. The island is full of mango and baobab trees, surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and intricate rock formations.
Many guests choose to relax on such a heavenly place, but one should at least go for a walk in the village. For the more active, there are wonderful snorkeling venues. A diving instructor and dive equipment are available. There are boat trips, water skiing, small sailing trips, fishing and much more. A tour in the island and to the local market, on foot or by mountain bike, is a must. The locals are known for their friendliness and openness.
