Kalamu Lagoon CampSouth Luangwa, southern sector

Eight beautiful rooms with en-suite bathroom, a mix of tents and straw, built at ground level. Outdoor shower for the adventurous. Ebony trees in the main building with pool, bar and viewing deck, nice views over the lagoon.

The camp is situated at a permanent lagoon near the Luangwa River in the southern part of South Luangwa National Park, one of Africa's best. In the dry season, the animals are forced to remain in the vicinity of the river and it sometimes causes a spectacular scramble for food and water.

It is unlikely to find anywhere else in Africa more hippos and crocodiles. The river is actually almost full of them. All common antelopes, sables, roans, and the endemic Thornicroft giraffes and Cookson wildebeests are present. There are good chances of seeing lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs.

Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives, bush walks. Guided nature walks are 'founded' in Zambia and are an integral part of every safari.
